Kimi K3.1 Pro: Claude's Free Rival + My 300-Agent Prompt

The link and exact prompt from my KIMI Reel: run 300 AI agents in Kimi Work to break down the most viral tech videos and edit 300 new ones in their style.

Kimi K3.1 Pro is Moonshot AI's newest model (launched Oct 23, 2026). It goes toe to toe with Claude's most expensive model, Opus 5.5, on coding tests like Terminal-Bench, at a fraction of the price. Moonshot says the full weights come out free by November 4.

My 300-agent prompt

Find the 300 most viral videos from the biggest creators in the tech niche, and edit me 300 new viral videos in that exact style. For each of the 300, give me the creator, views, the hook word for word, and why it went viral, in a spreadsheet. Then use the top patterns to edit 300 new videos from my footage in [folder], ready to post.

How to run it

  1. Open Kimi Work and pick K3.1 Pro in the model picker.
  2. Turn on Agent Swarm.
  3. Paste the prompt, swap "tech" for your niche and point it at your footage folder.

Agent Swarm can run up to 300 sub-agents at once, so big research jobs like this finish in one run. It uses a lot of quota, so try it on a smaller number first (e.g. 30 videos).

Where else you can use it

  • Kimi Work (desktop app, version 3.1.0+): best for building websites and multi-step projects. Pick K3.1 Pro in the model picker.
  • kimi.ai and the Kimi mobile apps: chat with it directly.
  • Kimi Code: the coding agent in your terminal. Type and pick K3.1 Pro.
  • API: model IDs and (same model, 2–3× faster). About $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens; Highspeed is double.

Tip: start on medium effort. It's faster and uses less of your quota. Switch to high only when the result isn't close enough.

Bonus: 3 prompts for 3D websites

1. Copy any website from a screenshot

Find a website design you love (Pinterest, Dribbble, Awwwards). Screenshot it, paste it into Kimi Work, and send:

Create this as closely as possible. Recreate this website with all of the details.

2. A 3D website with moving camera angles

Paste a screenshot or short clip of a 3D site, then send:

Recreate this exactly: the same 3D scene, the same UI on the top and the left, and the same animated camera angles. When the user isn't moving the mouse, slowly change the camera angle on its own. Make it one complete page that works on mobile. Spend as many credits as you need. Match it exactly.

3. A landing page from a written brief

Build a single-file landing page for [your product]. Style: [describe it, e.g. soft watercolour, dark and minimal, playful 3D]. Brand name: [name]. Headline: "[headline]". Include a hero, 3 feature sections, pricing and a footer. Use beautiful fonts and smooth scroll animations.

Bonus: motionsites.ai has ready-made "Build in Kimi" prompts for 3D sites (a bird atlas, a 3D bear, and more). Open one, copy the prompt into Kimi Work, and it builds the full page.

Make it look real when you post it

  1. Open the finished site in your browser.
  2. Screen-record it while you move the mouse, scroll and rotate the 3D parts. That proves it's a real site, not a video.
  3. Show the prompt first, then the result.

What it's great at, and what it isn't

Great atNot as strong at
Long coding tasks and agents (beats Opus 5.5 on SWE-Marathon, 51.7 vs 46.3)Hard reasoning without tools (HLE-Diamond 39.4 vs Opus 60.9)
Websites, 3D, game engines, Blender and CAD scriptsSome coding tests (ProgramBench 31.5 vs Opus 65.0)
Web research (BrowseComp 92.1)Speed: it's slower than Claude in independent tests
Price: about half of Opus per tokenBusy launch week: Moonshot apologized for rate limits on Oct 26

All benchmark numbers are Moonshot's own, from the launch post: https://www.kimi.ai/blog/kimi-k3-1-pro

Coming next: the free download

Moonshot says the full model weights will be released by November 4, 2026, so any company can download and run it on their own servers. It's a 3-trillion-class model, so you need a data-center GPU cluster to host it, not a laptop. For everyone else, Kimi Work and the API are the way in.
